Dragoslav Freddie Stanisavljevic, Music director of the RTS Big Band, Executive Music Producer at RTS Music Production
He completed the lower music school “Josif Marinkovic” and the secondary music school “Stankovic” in Belgrade (class of Prof. Izudin Cavrkovic). He obtained diplomas of a bachelor and master studies of trumpet (class of Prof. Vladimir Polikarpov) and music pedagogy at Slobomir University.
Even during his high school days, he played in the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra “ Borislav Pascan“, the RTS Symphony Orchestra and the then Big Jazz Orchestra of Radio Belgrade. During his schooling, he won the First Federal, as well as the First Republic Award of the SFRY, and he also won several festival and special awards in the field of classical music.
In 1994, he continued his education at the Department of Jazz Music at the Academy of Music in Graz (Eddie Holtaner). During his first year of study, he became a member of the University Big Band led by Stjepko Gut, with whom the world’s great jazz musicians performed (Clark Terry, Benny Bailey, Bobby Shew, Bob Brookmayer and others). Upon his return to Serbia, he became a permanent member of the RTS Big Band, and as a trumpet soloist he performed with eminent soloists, such as Ray Charles, Diane Shure, Ack Van Rooyen, Peter Herbolzheimer, Steve Turre, Randy Brecker, Vic Vogel, John Faddis, Ronny Cuber, Don Menza, Benny Golson, Jesse Davis, Eddie Henderson, Chuck Findley, Peter King, Bobby Shew, and many others. He studied with John Fadis and Mile Pavlovic.
He has collaborated in the field of lead trumpet education with Mile Pavlovic, Jeff Davis, Lin Nicholson, Bobby Shew and Chuck Findley.
Since 2003, he is the first trumpet player of the Big Band. In 2005, he was chosen to represent Serbia in the European Jazz Youth Orchestra, which under the leadership of arranger, conductor and composer Vic Vogel were touring arround the world and recorded the first CD in Canada on the occasion of the eightieth birthday of the famous pianist Oscar Peterson. He often performs with Dusko Gojkovic as a member of the Dusko Gojkovic Big Band, Torino Big Band, Dusko Gojkovic International Summit Octet and other ensembles. As the leader of the Big Band, Soul Connection he recorded the Balkan Project compact-disk with Dusko Gojkovi’, Toni Lakatos, Marija Gonci, Martin Gjakonovski and Klaus Reibl.
He played in famous jazz clubs in Europe (Jazz House Copenhagen, Jazz Land Wien, Moods Jazz Club Zurich, Orpheum Graz, Jazz Club Torino, A TRANE Jazz Club Berlin, Unterfahrt Jazz Club Munich, Audi Forum Ingolsthadt).
In parallel with his performing and editorial activities, he also worked as a trumpet professor at the Secondary School Josif Marinkovic in Belgrade. Since 2009, he has led a seminar on classical and jazz music in Budva, which was attended by eminent experts (S. Gut, T. Smith, N. Mimo Mitrovic, M. Smith, L. Tosic …).
Participates in the work of expert juries (Trumpet Festival in Guca, trumpet competitions (Zlatibor, Boljevac, Kovacica, Kotraza, UNIFEST festival, youth acoustic festival, professional selective commission of the BEOSONG competition).
Since 2010, he has been the Executive Music Producer of the RTS Big Band and the Jazz Department of the RTS Music Production.
Since 2011 he is a music director of the RTS Big Band.
