RTS KOLIBRI CHOIR
The hummingbird is the smallest bird in the world. Petite, colourful, unrestrained in motion. Association – child. Hence, the name of the children’s choir Kolibri. Children grow up and sing there…The Choir is a school with distinctive subjects – fairytale, development of speech and motor skills, breathing, concentration, expression of thought, learning new terms, socialisation, children’s awareness, nurturing of friendship, selflessness, and respect for personality, acknowledgment of joy of singing.
The Children’s Choir Kolibri was founded in 1963. The founder and long-time conductor of this youngest ensemble within the Music Production of Radio Television Serbia was Milica Manojlovic.
Kolibri is a unique children’s choir of recognisable culture of singing, an appealing interpretation and a highly professional attitude towards playing music with a thoughtful love and an active acceptance of music whose message passes on to the listeners with the unique pleasure. The attitude towards singing, breathing, producing interpretation, understanding the text, being in Serbian or not, performs the function of musical expression.
The Choir held over a hundred concerts in the country and abroad, participated in audio dramas, television shows and series, as well as in movie. It has 7 audio cassettes, 19 singles and 42 long-play gramophone records and 4 audio CDs published by PGP-RTB / RTS.
Exceptional artistic achievements and aesthetic satisfaction brought this choir numerous prizes, from which stand out: Radio Belgrade’s Charter for contribution to the development of children and youth music, Golden Link of the Cultural and educational community of Belgrade for the achievement in the field of science and art, Charter of the “Composers’ Association” for the contribution to the musical artistry, UNICEF thank-you note, Golden Syrinx of Radio Television Belgrade for the greatest annual RTB ensemble accomplishment, Order of Labour with silver wreath, Days of Mokranjac medal and Zmaj Award.
The Choir is now led by Ljiljana Randjelovic. She graduated from the Music Academy in Belgrade, Department of Music Pedagogy. From the age of seven, she is engaged in choral singing and choral music. In 1995, she became the youngest member of the only professional ensemble in the county – the RTS Choir. In March 2012, with great pleasure and enthusiasm, continuing the journey that Milica Manojlovic began in 1963, she took over the Kolibri Choir. With the Kolibri choir, she records her first and their fourth audio CD – «Kolibri planet», with the most famous national pop and rock musicians as authors.
