Gatherings, as well as other forms of social and popular traditions in various parts of the Serbian ethnic climate, during which people from one area or several neighboring areas gathered on certain days of the year, bringing together in a small area many members of the community and on such occasions, it can be observed, more than in everyday life, the splendor of the folk spirit and traditional musical heritage intertwined into a harmonious whole composed of song, gig, play and costume.

This diversity and richness of musical content, shaped through a collective conception of belonging and expression of individual feeling and skills based on heritage and tradition, spread from one landscape to another within the mosaic image of complex forms, in which, until the recent past, every smaller or larger area was characterized by particular forms of musical expression.

The formation of musical heritage has been greatly influenced by cultural and historical factors through time and space, social changes, economic development and, more recently, strong technical and technological progress and have inevitably led to the mass creation and acceptance of the new.

Traditional music concert called “GATHERING IN FIVE PICTURES” will present the traditional heritage of the CENTRAL BALKAN, DINARIC and PANONIAN ZONES.
Considering the territorial breadth and comprehensiveness of these zones, this concert will feature selected, characteristic examples from the area where Serbs live and where the musical tradition is preserved in its original form and presented in five pictures. The songs, gigs and plays, in a place similar to gathering place, will be enriched with a professional narrative, communicated in a susceptible and interesting way, and will show the specifics of the region, environments, variants.

In the concert “Gathering in Five Images” will participate: Duet Jovanka and Ljubodrag Mijajlovic, Jadranka Jaglicic, folk ensemble Kopaonik from Leposavic, folk ensemble Stanko Paunovic – NIS Oil Refinery Pancevo, Dobrivoje Todorovic, Svetlana Stevic, Duet Malina Stanojevic and Slavko Karaca, Klanet Ensemble, Female singing group “Crnućanke”, Male singing group “Serbian peony”, Borisav Miljkovic, Maksim Mudrinic and Mihajlo Nenadic.
