The spectacular young Argentinian violinist, Pilar Policano, performing with the RTS Symphony Orchestra!
Winner of first prizes at many international violin competitions, the sixteen-year-old star of the concert scene will perform in Belgrade Felix Mendelssohn’s “Concerto for Violin and Orchestra”, a masterpiece of worlds violin literature. The turbulent first movement of this piece, by which it is recognized, is a real challenge for performers – from Ferdinand David, to whom the concert is dedicated, to many who have it in their repertoire today. The concert will open with Verdi’s overture to the opera “The Power of Fate”, which many call a “destiny piece” in that creator’s oeuvre, but they also talk about the “curse of the story” which brought inexplicable fear to some and was an irresistible challenge to others. In addition to that piece, the RTS Symphony Orchestra, with conductor Louis Gorelik, will also play excerpts from the first and second suites from the ballet “Romeo and Juliet” by Sergei Prokofiev, which is inspired by one of the most beautiful and widely read plays in world literature, written by William Shakespeare. The beauty of the music led the composer to create three suites from ballet music, which are now part of the standard concert repertoire of many symphony orchestras.
The concert will be held at Kolarac endowment on May 27, at 8 p.m., and it will be one of the concerts from the “Days of Argentina in Kolarac” series.
