At the concert on October 1, in the Kolarac Concert Hall , starting at 8 p.m., the RTS Symphony Orchestra will perform two suites. “Gogol Suite” by Alfred Schnittke, one of the most respectable composers of the 20th century. Even though it was composed for a theater performance of Gogol’s “The Auditor”, the music attracted the attention of not only the audience but also of the famous conductor Gennady Rozhdestvensky, who shaped it into an orchestral suite. On the same evening, Rodion Shchedrin’s “Carmen Suite” will be performed, a piece that the composer dedicated to his wife, the famous ballerina Maya Plisetskaya. Inspired by the opera “Carmen” by Georges Bizet, he gave it a new life on the concert stage by shaping it into a ballet.
The concert will be conducted by Dian Chobanov, a conductor with a successful career, who has already worked with the world’s most eminent orchestras.
