Graz meets Belgrade, part of a unique jazz journey on which the Big Band RTS will take you. The ensemble will share the stage with today’s leading musicians, connecting two cities – Graz and Belgrade. The guests of the concert will be Luis Bonilla, trombone, Renato Cicco, piano, as well as Ziggy Feigl, conductor, and current dean of the Jazz Department of the Graz Academy. Stjepko Gut, conductor and trumpeter, will also perform at the concert, and this time he will present himself in his new role as head conductor of the RTS Big Band.
The concert will be held in the Great Hall of Kolarac endowment, on February 28, at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the box office of the Kolarac endowment
This concert of the RTS Big Band will mark the decades-long relationship and collaboration between two jazz cities: Graz, where a large number of local young musicians studied at the “University of Music and Performing Arts” (Jazz Institute), many of whom are today members of our ensemble, and Belgrade, as one of the most essential jazz centers in Europe. It will be an opportunity for former students to meet Stjepko Gut, who was a professor at Graz and led the student Big Band.
Ziggy Feigl, who will also conduct the concert, has already presented himself to the Serbia audience at the Novi Sad Jazz Festival (2018), when three ensembles performed together: Big Band RTS, Big Band RTV SLO, and Jazz Orkestar HRT.
