Vlada Panović
Vlada Panović (Kraljevo, 1967) was introduced to the accordion as a nine-year-old boy. Fascinated by its sound and the possibilities of this instrument, he increasingly expressed his love for music and a great desire to play the accordion. As an exceptional talent, he enrolled into junior and then high school music school Stevan Mokranjac in Kraljevo, where he came to be one of the best students in his class.
His interest in musical styles and areas has been versatile from the very the beginning. In his search for true values he entered the core of every musical genre, which enabled him to develop an aesthetic and stylistic view of music. However, his commitment to our abundant musical tradition conditioned the emphasis he puts on the musical heritage of his native people.
His continuous work on self-perfecting has led to significant awards: the First Harmonica of Serbia (Aranđelovac, 1994), the First Harmonica of Yugoslavia (Soko Banja, 1997), the Večernje Novosti newspaper prize for the First Harmonica (1997).
He became a member of the Radio Television of Serbia Folk Orchestra at the end of 2000. In this significant institution, which showcases a school of folk music, he excels in his stylistic knowledge of our musical heritage and in writing arrangements for the Folk Orchestra.
By passing on his knowledge and experience to the younger generations, he shapes very successful instrumentalists and vocal soloists. As a music role model, he leads the way for them to combine expressive and rich traditional music with modern musical expression. In 2008, he recorded his first compact disc titled Harmonikom kroz Srbiju for PGP RTS, which is a tribute to the Serbian accordion. In 2009 he released his first author’s debut – the compact disc Balkan motives. His third compact disc titled 45 Years Together was released in 2023.
With an extraordinary sense of musicality and musical intelligence, he pushes the boundaries of his expertise and successfully performs well-known compositions by globally renowned authors, primarily in the field of jazz standards and film music but also French chanson, Russian romances, and Argentine tango.
Long-term work, numerous sacrifices, and a great love for his calling raised him to the very top of the musical sky of Serbia, and brought him the greatest recognition in his career. In January 2010, Vlada Panović became the head of the Radio Television of Serbia Folk Orchestra, the most representative orchestra for folk music, which has, since its foundation been erasing dubious values and making an immeasurable contribution to the musical heritage of Serbia.
He handles the role of the head of the Folk Orchestra with great responsibility and extends the tradition of his predecessors in nurturing the folk melos, but with his own artistic and stylistic touch, thus strengthening the national direction in Serbian music. As an artist of refined taste, with a precise and clean technique, clear form, a strong tone, noble softness and a natural feeling for phrasing, he shows the qualities of a universal musician with a breadth of genre, whose eager spirit and intellectual curiosity cannot be limited to only one area of musical art and whose interest and desire for musical creativity know no bounds.
