Snežana Despotović
She has been conducting the RTS Children’s Choir since 1994, and has prepared it for numerous performances of vocal-instrumental pieces, including: Balkan Requiem by Rastislav Kambasković, Symphony No. 3 and Symphony No. 5 by Gustav Mahler, Oratorio by Rubin, St John Passion, St Matthew Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach, Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, Početak bune na Dahije by P. Maksimović, War Requiem by Benjamin Britten, operas Carmen by Georges Bizet, Tosca, La bohème, ballets Nutcracker, Hansel and Gretel, music for the films Underground (G. Bregović), The Good Pope (Oscar winner, E. Morricone), and music for many TV series, such as Putokaz, Blue Bird, 4×3 and others.
The repertoire of the RTS Children’s Choir nurtures all music genres, which are documented on permanent recordings. The choir performs at charities and children’s and cultural manifestations.
She is a member of various musical juries at competitions in Serbia and abroad.
She is the chairwoman of the FEDEMUS Festival, a musical manifestation of national significance, that has been taking place for 30 years at the Children’s Cultural Centre of Belgrade (DKC), the Minja Subota Festival (DKC) as well as the Zlatna Sirena competition for young performers (DKC). She is the founder of the vocal group Nađi svoju zvezdu (DKC), with which she performed the children’s opera Children’s Room by Milenko Živković, a hundred years after its premiere. This vocal group has received the BEMUS award and the Days of Mokranjac award in Negotin. The group actively performs and records children’s music that is age-appropriate in terms of its lyrics and melodies.
Snežana Despotović has received numerous acknowledgements and awards, including the BEMUS award, the Konstantin Babić award, the Vojislav Ilić award for the authentic performance of spiritual music, the Golden Link of the Cultural and Educational Community, the Zlatni violinski ključ award for her exceptional commitment in working with children, the Mića Tatić award of the First program of Radio Belgrade for her work with youth, the honorary certificate of the Days of Mokranjac in Negotin, and the Vuk Award of the Cultural and Educational Community (2024). She has also received multiple international acknowledgments.
Along with the RTS Children’s Choir, Snežana Despotović received a letter of thanks from the Association of disabled war veterans (2003), the Choirs among the Frescoes Festival and others.
