Composer Arturo Marquez is one of the most famous Mexican composers. World fame was brought to him by a series of compositions that he called “Danson”, marking them with ordinal numbers. Inspired by the old Cuban ballroom dance of the same name, he gave this temperamental music new life by styling it for a symphony orchestra. Among them, the most popular today is Danson no. 2. Although in this part the trumpet will bring the most famous themes, a concerto for that instrument has a special place in Márquez’s opus. Not by chance, because the trumpet is one of the leading instruments of Mexican folk music. “The trumpet is the queen in the heart of Mexico,” said Marquez.

No less attractive is George Gershwin’s work, “An American in Paris”, commissioned by the New York Philharmonic. Inspired by his stay in Paris in 1926, the composer, through a jazz-inspired symphonic work, described with music “the impressions of an American walking in the city of light.”
