RTS Folk Ensemble
RTS Music ProductionThe Radio Television of Serbia Folk Ensemble, the youngest ensemble in Music Production, was founded in 1980 as an ensemble of soloists – accomplished and trained musicians: Božidar Boki Milošević, MA – clarinet, Branimir Đokić – accordion, Aleksandar Šišić – violin, Dane Popovski – drums, Miodrag Đino Maljoković – drums, Miša Blam – double bass, Bora Višnjički – guitar, Živko Simeunović – guitar, Bora Dugić – flute and Blagoje Petrović – clarinet.
With the establishment of the Radio Television of Serbia Folk Ensemble, the editors at the Music Production decided without hesitation Branimir Đokić as its artistic leader. Branimir Bane Đokić – an established, charismatic harmonica soloist – readily accepted this challenge and responsibility. Devoted and dedicated to folk music, he successfully led this ensemble for thirty-five years. During that time, he remained consistent with traditional values, responsibly and carefully choosing his repertoire while respecting all the stylistic characteristics of folk songs and dances that made up the repertoire of the Radio Television of Serbia Folk Ensemble. In turbulent times, when music scene and media space were flooded with other melodies and rhythms, Đokić successfully chose and performed those composed songs that relied on traditional songs. As the artistic leader of the Radio Television of Serbia Folk Ensembleand a constant critic, he carefully selected vocal and instrumental soloists who would “stand” in front of this ensemble of exceptional performance quality and unique musical energy.
The repertoire of the Radio Television of Serbia Folk Ensemble is very diverse – from traditional to contemporary, from original songs, “antique”, “play” and virtuoso, “concert” rounds, city songs and romances, selected compositions in the folk spirit to songs created in time the current one. And that’s not all, because the program requirements of the public media service of Serbia present the musicians of this ensemble with new repertoire challenges and “excursions” into other musical genres.
The representation of the Radio Television of Serbia Folk Ensemble in radio and television programs is huge – over a thousand “Šarenica” shows, hundreds and hundreds of tracks recorded for the series “Najlepše narodne pesme” participation in New Year’s shows and other program activities of the Radio Television of Serbia numerous thematic and humanitarian concerts, public performances in Belgrade and throughout Serbia, as well as representative festivals of folk music that cannot be imagined without the participation of the Radio Television of Serbia Folk Ensemble.
Traditionally, the Radio Television of Serbia Folk Ensemble records for the Sound Archive of RTS and Radio Belgrade, and the recorded songs are broadcast on all RTS programs. Accompanied by this ensemble, all established, well-known and recognized vocal and instrumental soloists of folk music performed and recorded.
Special attention is given to young, talented performers, who, performing with the Folk Ensemble, acquire the necessary knowledge with the aim of creating a new generation of “radio singers” and folk orchestra players who will continue the Folk Ensemble successful tradition.
The Radio Television of Serbia National Ensemble consists of excellent soloists and orchestral musicians headed by artistic leader Sinisa Vićentijević.
