One of the most respected trombonists in the jazz world, Luis Bonilla, will share the stage with the Radio Television of Serbia Big Band on November 22th, in the Kolarac Concert Hall. As a guest of the RTS Big Band, Luis Bonilla will be presented both as a conductor and as a trombone soloist. For all lovers of excellent jazz sound, we selcted for this evening a program from the jazz and Latin jazz Big band repertoire.
Luis Bonilla’s impressive career includes performances with some of the most famous jazz stars, such as Tom Harrell, Freddie Hubbard, McCoy Tyner, and Dizzy Gillespie, as well as stars from other genres, including Phil Collins, Tony Bennett, Diana Ross, and Marc Anthony. He was a member of some of the most prestigious orchestras, including the “Mingus Big Band”, “Vanguard Jazz Orchestra”, and “Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra”. He is the winner of two Grammy awards, as well as being recognized as trombonist of the year by the prestigious magazines “Downbeat” and “JazzTimes”.
He is currently a trombone professor at the jazz department of the University of Music and Applied Arts in Graz (Austria).
