Vanja Biserčić

Vanja Biserčić, tenor, from Belgrade, graduated from the Vocal Studies Department of the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, in the class of Prof. Nikola Kitanovski.

Since 2011, he has been a member of Operetika, an ensemble under the artistic direction of Prof. Ljubica Živković. As a part of this ensemble, he has played the role of the prince 30 times in the Serbian children’s opera Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by Petar Krstić. He has also performed at numerous other concerts.

He has participated in various competitions, including the International Solo Singing Competition Lazar Jovanović in Belgrade (2010, 2011, 2012, 2016) and the Republic Competition in Belgrade (2011, 2013), both of which he received the first prize for.

Since 2013, he has played the role of Tamino over 20 times in The Magic Flute, which used to be a part of the regular repertoire of the Opera and Theatre Madlenianum. As a part of the Opera Studio of the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, he played the role of Rade from the opera At Dawn by Stanislav Binički, which was performed at the National Theatre in Belgrade in 2014, as well as at concerts across Serbia.

In 2014, he was awarded the scholarship for the International Opera Festival Oper de Spree in Germany, where he was recognised as the most successful performer of the festival by the international jury, and was awarded the Grand Prix. From October 2014, he played the role of Count Cedlau in the operetta Viennese Blood by Johann Strauss, which was a part of the repertoire of the Opera and Theatre Madlenianum until 2015.

In January 2015, he received the Muzika Klasika award as the young artist of the year.

From 2014, he has performed as a soloist with the RTS Choir and Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Bojan Suđić in the following pieces: Resurrection by Stevan Hristić (2014), Requiem by Alfred Schnittke (2015), Glagolitic Mass by Leoš Janáček (2016) and the Chichester Psalms by Leonard Bernstein (2015 and 2018).

In May 2018 he played the lead role in The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.

During the seasons from 2013 to 2023 he performed as a soloist with the RTS Choir at significant festivals and concerts held in Serbia and abroad (BEMUS, International Tribune of Composers – Belgrade, Days of Mokranjac – Negotin, Europa Cantat – Pécs – Hungary, Vidovdan – Gračanica, Theatre City Budva – Montenegro, Trieste –Italy, Zurich – Basel – St. Gallen – Bern –Switzerland, Vienna – Austria, Munich – Germany).

Since January 2024, he has been holding the position of Editor in Charge of the Choral Music Editorial Board of the RTS Music Production.
