RTS Choir and Symphony Orchestra at the 23rd International Festival “Organ Days”
Thanks to the long-term cooperation between RTS Music Production and Choir and the International Festival “Organ Days”, this year the audience will have the opportunity to hear our the most important vocal-instrumental ensemble – the Radio Television of Serbia Choir and Symphony Orchestra, which on this occasion will be led by PhD Željka Milanović, with vocal soloists Mihajlo Jocić, Mirko Milanović, Miloš Gašić, Darko Manić and Aleksandar Novaković, while Pavao Mašić from Croatia will play the organ. The concert program includes the famous Liturgia Domestica for soloists, organ, choir and orchestra, op. 79 by Alexander Gretchaninov, and the first movement of Vidor’s Sixth Organ Symphony no. 2 in G minor, Op. 42.
The most significant part of Gretchaninov’s oeuvre is choral spiritual music, and for a reason Gretchaninov is included among the best Russian composers of spiritual music. The Liturgia Domestica, his most famous spiritual composition, was composed in 1917 for choir, vocal soloists, orchestra and organ, and is an exception in that it uses instruments in addition to the choir in the form of Orthodox worship. It was performed in Belgrade in 1990, but, on July 3, we will have the opportunity to listen to this work for the first time in the church and on the big organ. On this occasion, the soloists will perform „vozglas“ composed by Vojislav Ilić.
