VUK OVASKAINEN, WINNER OF THE COMPETITION ”YOUNG AND SUCCESSFUL”, SOLOIST AT THE CONCERT OF RTS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The last concert of the RTS Symphony Orchestra in October will feature the music composed by Dmitry Shostakovich (1906-1975), one of the most respected composers of the 20th century, whose life and creative path went along with the great historical disruptions and radical transformation of the society of Soviet Russia. From the work of this distinguished symphonist, the audience will have the opportunity to hear one of the most famous concerts – “Cello Concerto, No. 1 “, which will be performed by cellist Vuk Ovaskainenas as a soloist and the winner of this year’s Contest Young and Successful organized by RTS Music Production Competition. Shostakovich wrote the Concert for the famous cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, who performed it at the premiere with the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra in 1959, conducted by Yevgeny Mravinsky. The concert was enthusiastically received by the audience, and soon followed by an international triumph which quickly positioned this work as one of the most significant piece among compositions made for cello.
On the same night, Shostakovich’s “First Symphony” is on the program, a piece full of youthful inspiration from this creator. The composition best affirms the talent of the young creator, but more than that, it indicates complete mastery of the basic rules of the symphonic form.
The audience will be able to listen to the music of Dmitry Shostakovich at the concert which will be held in the Great Hall of Kolarac Endowment, on November 23, at 8 pm. Bojan Sudjic will be conductor.
