CONCERT OF THE RTS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Famous Serbian baritone, a soloist of Metropolitan, London Royal Opera House and Vienna State Opera, Zeljko Lucic will perform on 21 April in the Concert Hall of the Kolarac Endowment, as a special guest at the Gala concert of the RTS Symphony Orchestra and Choir, conducted by Bojan Sudjic, by which Radio Belgrade 2 celebrates 60 years of existence.
Zeljko Lucic is one of the greatest opera stars of today and one of the most exciting performers of great romantic roles whose interpretations, especially Verdi’s characters, are considered to be undisputed. At the concert, by which Radio Belgrade 2 celebrates its 60th birthday, this great artist, who regularly performs at the most prestigious opera scenes of the world, will perform some of the most beautiful opera arias of the drama repertoire for which he became famous. Zeljko Lucic will sing arias from the operas “Pagliacci” by Ruggero Leoncavallo, “Andrea Chénier” by Umberto Giordano, and “A Masked Ball” by Giuseppe Verdi, along with the RTS ensemble that will also play famous instrumental fragments of these works (Intermezzo from the operas “Pagliacci” by Ruggero Leoncavallo and “Andrea Chénier” by Umberto Giordano, and Overture for the opera “A Masked Ball” by Giuseppe Verdi).
On this solemn evening, the RTS Choir and Symphony Orchestra, with conductor Bojan Sudjic, will also perform the composition “Biti drugi” by Aleksandar Sedlar, specially written for this occasion and based on the themes of Radio Belgrade 2, “Zujte strune” by Isidora Zebeljan, the symphonic poem “Pines of Rome “by Ottorino Respighi and the Pilgrim’s chorus from the opera “Tannhäuser” by Richard Wagner.
The tickets for this Solemn Concert will be soon on sale at the box office of Kolarac Endowment, and the happiest listeners of Radio Belgrade 2 will be able to get free tickets by contacting telephone numbers during the broadcasts of this radio program, entirely dedicated to culture and art.
Radio Belgrade 2 is the only radio program entirely dedicated to culture and art on a wide media space from Budapest to Athens and from Rome to Bucharest. It is a program where you can hear what is not commonly found on the other radio programs – serious, meaningful conversation, quality music, drama, educational and documentary program. Last year, in the survey of the renowned magazine “Muzika klasika”, it was awarded as the medium which contributed most to the affirmation of quality music in Serbia. Last year, the “Big Stone” broadcast of the Radio Belgrade Drama Program, which works within the Radio Belgrade 2, won the GRAND PRIX at the PRIX ITALIA festival – the most important festival of radiophonic art in Europe. The concert in the Concert Hall of the Kolarac Endowment will be the most solemn moment in the year, in which this program marks 60 years of existence with a series of manifestations.
